Delta Center Welcome Party Interview

May 4, 2024

How long have you been a hockey fan?

10 years. I got a job doing the music for our ECHL team here in Utah, the Utah Grizzlies. I didn’t know much about hockey when I started the job, but as seasons went on I fell in love with the sport.

How far did you travel from to attend the welcome party in Salt Lake City?

35 minutes from the north, I live near Ogden. Born and raised in Utah. I also went to the airport to greet the team getting off of the plane. As they arrived you could see some of the players sticking their phones to the airplane windows, recording the massive group of youth hockey players waiting to greet them.

What is your favorite team name idea?

Not a huge fan of the Yetis. As a Utahn, I want a team name that means something and Yetis has nothing to do with Utah. If I’m being honest, I haven’t heard the perfect name yet. However, for this interview I’ll give you my top two. The Mammoths, and The Black Diamonds (black diamonds references the hardest ski run on any given mountain resort). And if somehow this name sticks, I think a Ski Bum would be an awesome mascot!

What was your favorite part of the welcome party?

Just seeing the players faces and enjoying a much larger stadium with a sold out crowd cheering them on.

Did you get a pre-season voucher?

I did!

Any favorite player on the team so far?

I’m excited to see Clayton Keller and obviously Spicy Tuna will be fun to watch!

Anything else you would like to say to support the new team?

Let’s go team!!! I’m pushing to be your music man. I promise to hype the crowd up and give you that small edge over the opposing team to get a dub!
